Coffee in Central America

Coffee in Central America

FO Licht International Coffee Report 11(7): 119-122

A brief review of coffee production in central America notes the importance of coffee to the economy of the area. The collapse of the ICO quota system and the ensuing price fall are still being felt within the region. Price decline throughout 1995 and 1996 was considerable, and the heavy rains at the beginning of the season threatened the 1995/96 crops. Total production, despite predictions, could be up for 1995/96 from the previous year.
