The diploid Priekulu 59 and its autotetraploid counterpart Spidola were studied, together with a new synthetic diploid (LIA catalogue number 1218) and its autotetraploid. Their cold hardiness was tested by stepwise freezing from -6 to -18 degrees C. The content of water-soluble carbohydrate (WSC) in plants was analysed at 25-day intervals from the start of October to the first week in December.
