Comparative efficacy and economics of some insecticides against gram pod borer Helicoverpa armigera (Hubner) in chickpea in western plain of Uttar Pradesh

A field trial was carried out in Uttar Pradesh, India, during the rabi seasons of 1988-89 and 1989-90 on the chemical control of Helicoverpa armigera on chickpea. Nine insecticides were applied twice, at about 50% flowering and 15 days later, as a result of which there was a significant reduction on larval population and percentage pod damage in comparison with the untreated crop.
