Development of Pseudocercosporella herpotrichoides (Fron) Deighton var. herpotrichoides and var. acuformis on wheat plants measured by ELISA

Development of Pseudocercosporella herpotrichoides (Fron) Deighton var. herpotrichoides and var. acuformis on wheat plants measured by ELISA

Journal of Phytopathology 140(4): 301-311

The development of P. herpotrichoides var. herpotrichoides and var. acuformis was compared under greenhouse and field conditions using ELISA. In the greenhouse, var. acuformis grew less vigorously, and was slower in penetrating the coleoptile and the successive leaf sheaths and in colonizing the stem tissue than var. herpotrichoides. In the field, these differences were confirmed on the last leaf sheaths and the stem. At ripening, however, both varieties gave rise to similar mean ELISA values.
