Economic impacts of investment in on-farm research: the case of La Fraylesca, Chiapas, Mexico

Economic impacts of investment in on-farm research: the case of La Fraylesca, Chiapas, Mexico

Agricultura Tecnica en Mexico 20(1): 55-72

The study estimates the economic (social) efficiency of investment of resources in a maize adaptive research programme, carried out by INIFAP in La Fraylesca, Chiapas, Mexico, using on-farm research methodology developed by CIMMYT. The analysis includes the effects of liming acid soils and of using urea, compared with investment in generating and transferring these technologies. Economic indicators are calculated on the basis of three adoption scenarios.
