Economic issues in sustainable soil management

Soil management in sustainable agriculture Proceedings Third International Conference on Sustainable Agriculture, Wye College, University of London, UK, 31 August to 4 September 1993: 71-85
Economic issues in sustainable soil management
Traditional economic analysis fails to provide an adequate framework for evaluating the soil resource and its contribution to agricultural sustainability, including issues such as intensification of production, the soil as a non-renewable resource, and externalities such as erosion and pollution. These issues are considered in a theoretical context to indicate why the soil seldom features in farm accounts.
