Economic situation of vegetable growers: declining incomes
Vegetable growing in France represents a major segment of the agricultural sector both in terms of the wealth it generates and the assets devoted to it. Despite a persistent foreign trade deficit French vegetable growers have recently achieved increased foreign market shares. However, the revenues of producers have remained stagnant. Although productivity has increased, falling market prices have reduced profits.
