In an experiment in 1994 on a sandy loam soil at Bangalore, C. flexuosus cultivars OD 19, Pragati and Cauvery were planted as rooted slips at 60 x 30 cm and irrigated to give IW:CPE values of 1.60, 0.80, 0.53, 0.40 or 0.32 using 40 mm water at each irrigation. Control plants were not irrigated. Of the 3 cultivars, OD 19 gave the highest dry herb yield (2.80 t/ha) but Cauvery gave the highest essential oil yield (47.29 kg/ha). Dry herb and oil yields declined as irrigation rate decreased.
