Effect of nitrogen and spacing on yield and quality attributes of brinjal (Solanum melongena L.)
Singh, V.N.; Syamal, M.M., 1995: Effect of nitrogen and spacing on yield and quality attributes of brinjal (Solanum melongena L.). Journal of Research, Birsa Agricultural University 7(2): 137-139
Field studies were conducted at Varanasi on a sandy loam of medium fertility. Results revealed that application of 100 kg N/ha produced the highest number of fruits and yield, while fruit weight, total soluble solids and ascorbic acid content were highest at 150 kg N/ha. The lowest values for these parameters were recorded with no N. Transplanting at the widest spacing (60 cm x 90 cm) resulted in the highest number of fruits, fruit weight as well as ascorbic acid content.
