Effect of nitrogen and sulphur application on grain and oil yields, nutrient uptake and protein content in transplanted gobhi sarson (Brassica napus subsp oleifera var annua)

In a field trial conducted at Ludhiana, Indian Punjab in the winter seasons of 1988-90 on N- and S-deficient Tolewal sandy-loam (Typic Ustisamments) soil, transplanted gobhi sarson (Brassica campestris var. sarson) GSL 1 was given 0, 50, 100 or 150 kg N/ha and 0 or 20 kg S/ha. Seed yield was 0.85 t/ha without fertilizers, was slightly increased by S (mean yield 1.45 and 1.57 t/ha without and with applied S, respectively), and increased significantly with up to 100 kg N/ha.
