In pot experiments under 3 nitrogen regimes/pot during 1990-93 with various varieties, there were intervarietal differences in response to nitrogen, and 2 groups could be distinguished: 9 varieties giving their highest grain yields at the highest nitrogen dose (3.6 g/pot), and 19 giving their highest yield at the intermediate dose (2.4 g/pot).
