In field trials in Rio de Janeiro in 1991, carrot Nova Kuroda sown in rows 20 cm apart 90 days after incorporation of organic matter (plant residues) at rates of 0, 4, 8 or 16 kg/msuperscript 2 were given NPK as implicated by soil analysis with further N applied at thinning 15 and 30 days after sowing.
