Effect of osmotic inhibitors on maintenance of viability in introduced varieties of Vaccinium corymbosum L. and Vaccinium vitis-idaea L. in in vitro culture
The effect of different concentrations of mannitol and sorbitol on the in vitro viability of 6 varieties of V. corymbosum and 3 of V. vitis-idaea was tested by culture on modified WPM medium with 1-3 g osmotic inhibitor/litre for 4 months without transfer to fresh medium. All the varieties showed good long-term viability on medium with 2 g mannitol/litre.
