(Effect of photoperiod on tissue culture of vegetative and flowering-induced plants of Kalanchoe blossfeldiana) - Different kinds of explanted tissues from vegetative, flower-induced and flowering plants of Kalanchoe blossfeldiana were cultivated in vitro in dark, short (8h) and long (16h) day conditions. Their ability for shoot regeneration in MS-62 basal medium containing LAA (1.0 mg/l) plus BAP (0.5 mg/1) and callus formation in medium with 2,4-D (0.5 mg/l) plus BAP (0.1 mg/l) were compared. Stem and flower scape segments showed higher morphogenetic potential than leaf discs, independent on the floral state of the donor plant. The degree of bud regeneration increased inversely in relation with the daylength, being higher in the dark, in all kinds of explants. The callus development showed a similar pattern in leaf discs, whereas in stem and flower scape segments the best response was observed when the light period was increased.
