Effect of rootstock on the branching and quality of cherry trees in the nursery

Effect of rootstock on the branching and quality of cherry trees in the nursery

Acta Horticulturae ( 410): 507-510

A 10-year study was conducted to determine the propagability and nursery stock quality of cherry cultivars on different rootstocks at an experimental nursery in Hungary. With sour cherry cultivars, good results could be obtained on Korponay and SM 11/4 rootstocks. Dunabogdany, SM 11/4 and SL 64 Mahaleb rootstocks proved best for sweet cherry cultivars. For sweet cherry, secondary shoot establishment seemed to be the best on Dunabogdany.
