Effect of sources and times of nitrogen application on production and quality of okra seeds

Nitrogen as urea or ammonium sulfate, each at 100 kg N/ha, was applied to the okra cultivar Campinas-2 IAC-4076 (1) at sowing, (2) at the visible bud stage, (3) at flowering, (4) half at sowing and half at the visible bud stage, or (5) half at sowing and half at flowering. Seed yield, percentage germination and seed vigour were assessed. The highest seed yield of 1034 kg/ha was obtained with ammonium sulfate applied as in (5). Seed quality was not influenced by N source or time of application.
