Seeds of P. maximum Guine stored for 6, 8, 10, 12 or 14 months were exposed in the light to KNO3 alone or with scarification with H2SO4 for 5 min and/or prior chilling at 5 degrees C for 7 days. The highest germination percentage was given by KNO3 with or without H2SO4, while chilling reduced germination percentage.
