Effectiveness and utilization by grasses of nitrogen from standard urea and that modified by a nitrification inhibitor on cultivated floodplain pasture

Effectiveness and utilization by grasses of nitrogen from standard urea and that modified by a nitrification inhibitor on cultivated floodplain pasture

Agrokhimiya ( 6): 22-30

In a field trial in 1992-93, a cultivated floodplain pasture containing 44-49% Dactylis glomerata, 18-25% Phleum pratense, 16-20% Festuca pratensis, 1-5% legumes and 4-8% forbs was given 80 kg P2O5 + 120 kg K2O + 180 kg N/ha, with the N in a single application in spring or in 2, 3 or 5 split applications, and was cut to simulate grazing. The N was applied as urea, with or without the nitrification inhibitor 1-carbamoyl-3(5)-methylpyrazole (CMP) at 2% of the N rate.
