Effects of culture systems on growth and yield of cherry tomatoes in hydroponics

This experiment was carried out to investigate the effect of the culture systems on the growth and yield of Cherry Tomatoes (Lycopersicum esculentum cv.Pepe) in hydroponics. The culture systems were compared between four systems such as N.F.T, D.F.T, Aeroponics and Scoria medium culture. On the whole, the growth states in aeroponics and N.F.T were better than those of other culture systems. The temperature of root-zone was 17 apprx 27 degree C in aeroponics and it was lower by 4 apprx 5 degree C than that of D.F.T. In days from sowing to flowering, aeroponics and N.F.T were earlier by 4-9 days than other culture systems. Commercial yield per unit area was increased by 20% in aeroponics than D.F.T. The sugar content was about 7 apprx 10.5 degree Bx in four systems, and the most sugar content was obtained in the scoria medium culture. The rate of commercial yield by harvesting terms was higher in aeroponics and N.F.T than the other systems at the early and middle harvesting terms.
