Effects of weight loss vs aerobic exercise training on risk factors for coronary disease in healthy, obese, middle-aged and older men

Effects of weight loss vs aerobic exercise training on risk factors for coronary disease in healthy, obese, middle-aged and older men

JAMA, Journal of the American Medical Association 274(24): 1915-1921

170 obese (body mass index, 30+or-1 kg/msuperscript 2 (mean+or-s.e.m.)), middle-aged and older (61+or-1 years old) men were assigned to: a 9-month diet-induced weight loss intervention; 9-month aerobic exercise training programme; and a weight-maintenance control group.
