Effects on the content of organic matter, nitrogen, phosphorus and heavy metals in soil and plants after application of compost and sewage sludge

Effects on the content of organic matter, nitrogen, phosphorus and heavy metals in soil and plants after application of compost and sewage sludge

The science of composting: Part 1: 457-468

A summary of the results from a 6 yr study undertaken in Ravenna, Italy, into the effects of compost and sewage sludge applications on the heavy metal contents of crops and on the organic matter, total nitrogen, available phosphorus and extractable heavy metal contents of soil. A 3 crop rotation, winter wheat-sugarbeet-maize, was adopted on a silty loam soil of average pH and CEC of 7.8 and 13.8 meq/100 g, resp.
