Efficacy of certain feeding attractants against predatory wasp (Vespa magnifica L.)

Efficacy of certain feeding attractants against predatory wasp (Vespa magnifica L.)

Plant Health 1: 66-68

A number of feeding baits were tested in their efficacy at trapping V. magnifica a predator of the honey bee (Apis mellifera), around hives at Jorhat, Assam, India, during July-September 1993. Baits consisted of pots of either fermented pineapple and molasses (4:1), or fermented honey, which were placed on the top of hives. The pineapple bait captured the most hornets. Most V. mandarinia were trapped early in the trapping season.
