Estimation of crop nitrogen requirement by a simplified conceptual model
A simplified conceptual model used to predict nitrogen fertilization rates for annual crops was adapted to estimate nitrogen rates required at different growth periods by crops receiving fertigation. The model variables were plant nitrogen demand (DEM), soil nitrogen supply (SUP), and fertilizer nitrogen use efficiency (NUE). The DEM for any growth interval can be calculated from cumulative nitrogen uptake curves.
