For 72 Nelore purebred and crossbred bulls (with 25% Charolais, Simmental or Chianina inheritance), daily gain from 11 months of age to 440 kg body weight averaged 740, 896, 821 and 875 g respectively, and for bulls fed diets with 60% forage and 40% concentrates, 100% forage or 60% forage and 40% concentrates, daily gain averaged 1052, 290 and 1156 g respectively, all differences between breed types and diets being significant.
