Evolution of a yard trimmings facility

The operation and expansion of the Lansing-based Granger Companies at the Great Lakes Compost Centre, USA, is described. The centre has expanded from the city of Lansing kerbside-collected yard trimmings to take in materials from many generators. The experimentation and implementation of different technologies and systems to control costs and increase throughput is discussed.
