This book is the outcome of a 3-day workshop on 'Policy and implementation issues in forestry' organized by the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration at Mussoorie, India, 4-6 July 1994, and attended by a policymakers at national and state levels, field level forestry officers, and NGO and academic representatives. The background papers presented at the workshop have been modified to incorporate the views of the workshop participants.
