With reference to cryopreservation, acorns were frozen under strictly controlled conditions to temperatures decreasing from -1 down to -17 degrees C, at intervals of 2 degrees C. Sprouting and growth capacity at 25 degrees C was measured after these treatments. No differences from control (non-frozen) acorns were found down to -7 degrees C.
