GC-91, a broad-based rice synthetic population for blast (Pyricularia grisea Sacc.) resistance

GC-91, a broad-based rice synthetic population for blast (Pyricularia grisea Sacc.) resistance

Brazilian Journal of Genetics 18(4): 553-561

Data on the development of a genetically broad-based gene pool, and progress during one generation of selection within it, for the purpose of increasing resistance to P. grisea are reported. Thirty lines of diverse origin were selected as parents on the basis of the stability of their response to a range of leaf and panicle blast races during 8 growing seasons at a locality favourable to disease development.
