Gonotrophic relationships in the stable fly, Stomoxys calcitrans (Diptera, Muscidae)

Gonotrophic relationships in the stable fly, Stomoxys calcitrans (Diptera, Muscidae)

Parazitologiya 29(6): 460-469

The gonotrophic relationships, functional and age-related changes taking place in the ovarioles during consecutive stages of life and feeding of female S. calcitrans are described. 260 (24.7%) of 1050 females failed to achieve the 1st gonotrophic cycle; of the 790 (75.3%) females that laid, 262 (33.2%) laid once only. 208 (26.3%), 149 (18.9%), 86 (10.9%), 59 (7.5%) and 26 (3.2%) made 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 layings, respectively.
