Growth and cropping of dwarf Jonagold (Jonica) apple trees grown at diverse densities and trained in different systems

Growth and cropping of dwarf Jonagold (Jonica) apple trees grown at diverse densities and trained in different systems

Journal of Fruit and Ornamental Plant Research 4(3): 117-122

Feathered Jonagold (Jonica clone) apple trees grafted on M.9 were planted in spring 1991 on light sandy soil either in a single row (2000, 3000, 4000, 8000 or 10 000 trees/ha), in a multiple row system (3000 or 4000 trees/ha) or in a V system. The trees planted in a single row at densities of 2000, 3000 or 4000/ha and trees planted in a multiple row system were trained as slender spindles, whereas trees planted at higher densities and in a V system were trained as superspindles.
