In laboratory, greenhouse and field experiments the effects of chlormequat on wheat Ghods plant development was studied. Chlormequat decreased coleoptile and primary root lengths and percentage germination compared with untreated controls. Tiller number and dry weight were increased in treated plants, although the rate of development was slower. Chlormequat increased the number of spikelet primordia compared with untreated controls.
