Growth, survival and smolting rate of triploid Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) in New Brunswick

Growth, survival and smolting rate of triploid Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) in New Brunswick

Bulletin of the Aquaculture Association of Canada 2: 39-41

There were no significant differences between diploid and triploid salmon in survival rate to 8 weeks following the start of feeding as fry in concrete tanks. Triploids were significantly smaller than diploids during Apr. (the start of feeding), May and June, but the differences decreased subsequently and were no longer significant by July. In Feb. of the next year, smolting rate was determined by classifying fish greater than 13 cm in length as smolts.
