Identification of Populus hybrids using isozyme analysis

, : Identification of Populus hybrids using isozyme analysis. Indian Journal of Forestry 19(3): 234-236

Leaf tissues from Populus ciliata (female) and P. deltoides (male) and their hybrid progeny were subjected to peroxidase isoenzyme analysis using polyacrylamide electrophoresis. Five bands were identified in the female parent, and 2 of these were also present in the male parent, together with 2 other bands. The hybrid progeny exhibited different patterns both from the parents and from one another, with one band from the female parent only always present, and 1 or 2 new bands also present.
