Identification of actinomycin C2 produced by actinomycetes isolate GT103 and its antimicrobial activity against tobacco pathogens

, : Identification of actinomycin C2 produced by actinomycetes isolate GT103 and its antimicrobial activity against tobacco pathogens. Korean Journal of Plant Pathology 12(1): 80-84

An antimicrobial compound extracted from the broth filtrate and mycelial extract of cultures of this Actinomycetales isolate was purified by solvent extraction, silica gel column chromatography and high performance liquid chromatography, and tested for antibiotic activity against 3 tobacco pathogens in vitro. The compound was strongly inhibitory to growth of Erwinia carotovora subsp. carotovora, Colletotrichum tabacum and Phytophthora parasitica (P. nicotianae) var. nicotianae.
