Identification of juvenile stages of two Hemicycliophora species occurring in Italy (Nematoda: Hemicycliophoridae)

, : Identification of juvenile stages of two Hemicycliophora species occurring in Italy (Nematoda: Hemicycliophoridae). Nematologia Mediterranea 23(Suppl): 17-24

The study of the free living stages of two Hemicycliophora species (H. epicharoides and H. typica) revealed total body length, stylet length, oesophageal length and total number of body annules to be the most useful characters to distinguish between the two species; gonad shape appears to be the best morphological character for a quick diagnosis of the juvenile stages.
