Identification of kappa-casein genotypes and the BLAD mutation in cattle using the polymerase chain reaction
DNA from 10 Holstein, 13 Russian Simmental and 16 Ukrainian Black Pied cows was amplified by the polymerase chain reaction, using primers for kappa -casein alleles and the BLAD (bovine leukocyte adhesion deficiency) mutation. In the 3 breeds respectively, the frequency of the kappa -CnA allele was 0.750, 0.730 and 0.656, and that of the kappa -CnB allele 0.250, 0.270 and 0.344.
