Identification of multiple disease resistance in chickpea at Hisar, Haryana, India
After screening over 1100 chickpea genotypes for resistance to wilt (Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. ciceris) and root rot (Macrophomina phaseolina) during 1990-92, 184 genotypes with resistance to both these diseases were evaluated for blight (Ascochyta rabiei) resistance during 1992-93. At the flowering stage, test plants and the susceptible control cultivar Pb7 were inoculated with a spore suspension containing ~30 000 spores/ml, and disease incidence scored 30 days after inoculation.
