P. maximum seeds were scarified in 70% H2SO4 for 6 minutes, washed, dried and then soaked in 100 ppm gibberellic acid, potassium nitrate, thiourea or gibberellic acid + potassium nitrate. Seed germination was lowest in the control (5%) and highest with scarification + gibberellic acid (80%).
