Influence of soil type on the interaction between root-knot nematode, reniform nematode and root-rot in eggplant

The interaction between Meloidogyne incognita and Rotylenchulus reniformis both at 1000 nematodes/plant and Rhizoctonia solani grown on potato dextrose broth at 500g/plant in two soil types (red and black) was studied on eggplant in pot experiments. The height and weight of shoot and roots of the eggplant were significantly more in red soil than in black soil as was rate of reproduction of M. incognita and R. reniformis which could be due to the higher silt and coarse sand content in red soil.
