Influence of time of sowing, shading and drainage conditions on seed production of Scirpus juncoides Roxb. subsp. juncoides and S. wallichii Nees

In field trials conducted at Akita, it was found that the number of seeds/plant of S. juncoides subsp. juncoides and S. wallichii decreased when the time of sowing was delayed, although a few seeds were produced even when the seeds were sown as late as 11 Aug. The number of seeds of both species was reduced by shading, and no seeds of either species sown on 11 Aug. were produced under 65% shading.
