Integrated plant production systems in comparison - 2. Information: weed and pest control

The concept of economic damage thresholds were used to evaluate weed control in a crop rotation with sugarbeet-winter wheat-2x winter barley. Weed numbers below the damage threshold are only found in winter wheat, so herbicides have to be used in most cases. By using damage thresholds principles when controlling weeds in this crop rotation, neither an increase of the weed numbers nor of the number of weed seeds in the soil were found after a 5-year period.
