Intercropping of sweet sorghum and sesame with different nitrogen fertilizer level. 1. The effect of intercropping on yield and its components of sweet sorghum and sesame plants

Experiments were conducted at Alexandria University in 1991-92 to study the effects of intercropping and N rates (0-90 kg N/feddan) on sweet sorghum and sesame. Intercropping decreased juice and syrup yield of sweet sorghum in both years. Juice and syrup yields were highest with 60 kg N/feddan, and decreased in 1992 at the highest N rate. Seed yield of sesame was about 0.45 t/feddan in pure stands and 0.19 t when intercropped.
