Investigation into the atmospheric losses of N after fertilization with limestone ammonium nitrate and ammonium nitrate solution on different soil surfaces

Investigation into the atmospheric losses of N after fertilization with limestone ammonium nitrate and ammonium nitrate solution on different soil surfaces

Applied Plant Science 9(2): 57-59

The influence of five surface conditions on atmospheric losses of N was evaluated after ammonium nitrate solution (ANS) and limestone ammonium nitrate (LAN) had been applied as N fertilizer With the exception of the treatment combination where ANS was applied to wet soil, there were no significant differences in losses from different surface conditions, but there was a tendency (although not significant, except in the case where the fertilizer was applied on wet soil)for the loss with LAN to be higher titan with ANS. From this trial it is concluded that there may be advantages in using ANS, although atmospheric losses may still be significant.
