Knowledge of foreign languages as an important prerequisite for total quality management in the hotel and tourist industry

Tourism and Hospitality Management 2(1): 141-148

The paper discusses the importance of foreign language skills for communicating, as part of total quality management systems, within the hospitality and tourist industry. Then, drawing on the results of various studies carried out among hotels in Croatia over recent years, it examines the role that foreign languages play in Croatian hotel management and client communication, and investigates foreign language learning in hotel and tourism training institutions.
