Maize growth, yield and yield components as related to some agricultural practices
Field trials were conducted in Egypt in 1991-92 to assess the impact on growth and yield of maize Giza 2 and Three Way Cross 310 (TWC 310) of sowing on 1 May, 1 June or 1 July and applying N as ammonium nitrate at 30-150 kg N/feddan in 2 equal splits before the 1st and 2nd irrigations. Delaying sowing reduced a wide variety of plant and ear growth parameters, and sowing in May generally gave the highest yields.
