Making film-wrapped silage

Metodiky pro Zemedelskou Praxi ( 16): 38 pp.
Making film-wrapped silage
The production of large bale silage wrapped in plastic film is described with reference to trials in the Czech Republic with Medicago sativa, Trifolium, grass/legume mixtures, grasses, maize and sugarbeet pulp. The forage is forced under variable pressure into plastic tubes creating virtually anaerobic conditions resulting in high quality silage. Losses from baled silage were lower than from conventional horizontal silos. The method was considered particularly promising for sugarbeet pulp.
