Malaria acquired in Bali

, : Malaria acquired in Bali. Medical Journal of Australia 163(2): 111-111

A case of malaria is reported in a 21-year-old man from Australia who had a 10-day holiday in Bali. He stayed in a 5-star resort in Nusa Dua, and made several day trips by motorbike. His antimalarial medication consisted of 2 chloroquine tablets/week (300 mg chloroquine) starting 2 weeks before travel and concluding 3 weeks after return; he missed one dose while in Bali. He presented 6 weeks after returning, having had 3 weeks of fever and myalgia.
