Malaria in South Africa


, : Malaria in South Africa. South African Medical Journal 86(8): 936-939

A recent severe malaria epidemic in southern Africa resulted in 24 074 confirmed cases, 61 975 unconfirmed cases and 207 deaths in Botswana, 1.2 million cases and >2000 deaths in Zimbabwe, and 20 960 cases and 108 deaths in South Africa. This has been the largest epidemic since the 1930s when control measures were first introduced.
