Malaria situation in Thailand with special reference to forest related malaria

Forest malaria in Southeast Asia: Proceedings of an informal consultative meeting WHO/MRC, 18-22 February 1991: 193-220

Malaria situation in Thailand with special reference to forest related malaria

Approximately 28% of Thailand is forest, and the border areas of the country under forest produce a high correlation between forest and malaria cases. Transmission by exophilic and exophagic vectors (Anopheles dirus and A. minimus) constitutes a major operational problem aggravated by the multi-resistant strains of Plasmodium falciparum and an extensive population migration, both internal and external.
