Malate dehydrogenase isozymes (MDH; EC 1.1.1.37) in long-term callus cultures of Cereus peruvianus (Cactaceae) exposed to sugar and temperature stress

, : Malate dehydrogenase isozymes (MDH; EC 1.1.1.37) in long-term callus cultures of Cereus peruvianus (Cactaceae) exposed to sugar and temperature stress. Biochemical Genetics 35(5/6): 155-164

MDH isoenzymes in 4-year-old callus tissue of C. peruvianus were studied by starch gel electrophoresis to investigate the control of differential Mdh expression under sugar and temperature stress. Two soluble cystolic MDH isoenzymes were observed in all callus tissues maintained at different temperatures (22, 32 and 37 degrees C) and concentrations of sugars (glucose, fructose and sucrose).
